EUROZONE INFLATION REAPPEARS IN JUNE

Inflation unexpectedly returned to the eurozone in June after a negative trend that stretched across three of the four prior month.

CPI had risen 0.1% compared to the same month last year.

The pound rebounded by as much as 1.5 percent  from its 11 percent plunge after the British referendum - a decent rebound under normal market conditions.

But it paled into insignificance compared with the currency's decline to a 31-year low. Its 7 percent drop on Friday was its steepest one-day decline in the post-1973 era of floating exchange rates.
